About TSC
Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port, The Spaceship Company is the aerospace production company, founded by Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites, which will be building the world’s first fleet of commercial spaceships (SpaceShipTwos) and carrier aircraft (WhiteKnightTwos) intended to make regular, commercial, manned space travel a reality.
History
In 2005 at EAA Airventure Oshkosh, Sir Richard Branson and Burt Rutan announced their signing of an agreement to form The Spaceship Company – a new aerospace production company to build a fleet of commercial sub-orbital spaceships and carrier aircraft.
It’s 2011 – and since 2005 we’ve been rather busy. With Virgin Galactic, we engaged Scaled Composites to develop a new and innovative spaceflight system to Virgin Galactic’s specifications. We then focused on building our team, operations, supply chain and capabilities at Mojave Air & Space Port. TSC’s operations now stretch over 130,000 square feet in three separate facilities and our team has grown to over 80 individuals – and we’re looking for more talented people to join this historic journey.
Vision
TSC plans to make access to space safe, reliable and affordable. TSC is dedicated to that goal by building the first fleet of spaceflight systems developed for routine, scheduled flight operations that exceed our customers’ requirements.
